To put things simply, cords are a psychic mechanism that allows us to connect and experience the world around us. We’re corded to people, places, emotions, and sometimes to spirits or other abstract energies (including to the past). Everyone we interact with we form a cord to, even to strangers at a grocery store, the mall, the bar etc. As mentioned above we can also be corded to certain places, locations, land, individual property (such as houses or apartments). These subjects (people, emotions, places) are much easier for us to grasp as humans, yet we can also be corded to more abstract energies that we may not fully understand, some may be spirits or entities others are thought forms, psychic debris, or just “floating” energy without a clear source. Sometimes some individuals have a dense external energy attached to their cords, and at times this can partly or completely transfer or rub off over to one or more individuals (who are likely close in physical proximity). If we start to think about the world and all of its inhabitants seen and unseen, we’re faced with a sea of energy, always and at all times. It would not come as a surprise that most people living right now have many cords to so many people, situations, places and even maybe to “abstract” energies, even if some may not consciously think this is possible or are able to/willing to “sense” them. Cords are psychically real and truthfully many of them are not necessary or useful, in fact many of them can hold us back energetically speaking. They may keep us attached to the past, overwhelm our energy field and/or cause “felt” disturbances that take a toll on our ability to live in the present and at ease. Working with cords, specifically cutting/releasing or sometimes altering them clears the buildup of psychic smog within our energetic field and tangibly lightens our load.
Since the nature of cords is understood from a spiritual and/or psychic level, they are invisible to science, to reason and to most people’s level of awareness; however most people do sense or feel when something is not right, when they can’t exactly point their finger on it. This can show up in several ways such as increased anxiety or nervousness when interacting with others (or certain individuals), shallow breathing (difficulty breathing deeply and feeling at peace), pangs in the body (not from a physical source) or pulling sensations, heaviness or dizziness especially when we have been feeling emotionally well or have been mentally zen. Sometimes certain interactions with a specific person or group of people linger for much longer in our thoughts (or energy) than it should, sometimes we can sense someone’s dislike or disdain for us and it feels difficult to “shake it off” (some may call this unintentional psychic attack), other times someone else’s emotional distress/sadness or intense/chaotic emotions rubs off on to our energetic field and causes a disturbance in our energy. Quite often it can be much easier to dismiss most of these symptoms for medical conditions or an unbalanced mental health than to acknowledge that something on an energetic level feels off which would make complete sense from a logical perspective. At this point a bit of discernment is required in order to understand if this is coming from an “external” source. We may try sitting with ourselves in a comfortable and quiet place and ask our body if what we are experiencing originates from us. Then trust what comes forward without judgment (you may not even need to do this if you feel confident that it's not yours) perhaps you may hear an answer or just know (you may even be surprised at how much actually isn't yours). Our bodies are detached from our egos and therefore intrinsically connected to our unconscious, meaning our bodies are meant to feel and to “sense” without filters and with time, practice and awareness we can fine tune our “instrument” to sift through energies and be able to perceive more.
Cord work can open us up to different awarenesses by consciously engaging with the psychic realm. It is a form of true inner work in which we not only take notice of the energetic stimuli but also give it a name, a color, a texture, a dynamic, a psychic diagnosis, essentially building a rapport with our intuition to come to a deeper understanding in order to cut/release the individual cord (cords with more complex emotions or dynamics, or important relationships are worked on individually). The purpose is to shift/alter/start anew within that connection and release the heaviness, pain, chaos, and “psychic muk/grime” or whatever other blockages or setbacks that a person could have experienced in that connection. By practicing cord work you are taking responsibility for your own energy, you’re partaking in spiritual and personal self growth and your ability to perceive what's out there expands. Your energetic boundaries become stronger as a result of upkeeping your “spiritual/energetic hygiene”. Cord work can be a profound experience in terms of clearing our energy field from psychic baggage and/or emotional traumas. I think it’s also important to note that although you may or may not feel a shift or clearing when addressing cords (or just one cord) the first time, this is a gradual process that builds upon the previous work you have done especially when working with more complex cords.
There are many layers and aspects to cord work that go beyond simple clearings and individual cord workings. It’s a vast subject with many facets, sometimes a simple cord cutting/release may not be the best method to address an energetic imbalance that may require more advanced methods or a completely different approach. With all of this said cord work still is a glistening gem among spiritual clearing practices that may not be as well known or as popular as other methods yet its powerful, for the most part simple and tangibly effective. I encourage you if you feel inspired, to go on to do your own research on cord work to better grasp its implications or if you’d like to email me for an appointment you are very much welcome to and experience for yourself my teachings/methods and approach. Sending you blessings!
